नमस्कार दोस्तों English Sikhe ब्लॉग पर आपका स्वागत है इस पोस्ट में हम Past Continuous Tense के परिभाषा, पहचान, फॉर्मूला, हिंदी से अंग्रेजी अनुवाद करने के नियम , उदाहरण सहित पढ़ेंगे। इस पोस्ट से पहले हमने Past indefinite tense के बारे में पढ़ा था यदि आपने इसे नहीं पढ़ा तो जरूर पढ़ें।
Past Continuous Tense In Hindi
जब किसी वाक्य से यह ज्ञात हो कि कोई कार्य भूतकाल में जारी था या चल रहा था तो वैसे वाक्यों को Past Continuous Tense के सहायता से अनुवाद किया जाता है। इस टेंस को Past Imperfect Tense भी कहा जाता है।
Helping Verb – पास्ट कंटीन्यूअस टेंस में Helping Verb के रूप में Was और were का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Was का प्रयोग – First Person Singular subject और Third Person Singular Subject के साथ होता है।
Were का प्रयोग – First Person plural Subject , Second Person Singular एवं Plural Subject और Third Person Plural Subject के साथ होता है।
Main Verb – पास्ट कंटीन्यूअस टेंस में Main Verb के रूप में Verb की Fourth form का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
Past Continuous Tense की पहचान
यदि किसी हिन्दी वाक्य क्रिया के अंत में रहा था, रही थी , रहें थे , इत्यादि लगा रहे तो वैसे वाक्य का अनुवाद Past Continuous Tense के अनुसार किया जाता है ।

वह खेलने के लिए जा रही थी।
She was going to play.
मैं TV देखने जा रहा था।
I was going to watch TV.
मैं उस नदी के किनारे आम खा रहा था।
I was eating mango on the bank of that river.
हमलोग वहां क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।
We were playing cricket there.
मेरा भाई उस समय पढ़ रहा था।
My brother was studying at that time.
तुम वहां मेरी तरफ देख रहे थे।
You were looking at me there.
हमलोग मैदान में नहीं दौड़ रहे थे।
We were not running in the field.
वह हमेशा शिकायत क्यों करती रहती थी?

- सबसे पहले Subject को लिखें।
- इसके बाद helping verb को लिखें।

Negative Sentences
Past Continuous Tense Negative Sentences को English में Translate करने के नियम–
- सबसे पहले Subject को लिखें।
- Subject को लिखने के बाद was/were not का लिखें। was/were not के जगह पर wasn't , weren't का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
- wasn't या weren't के बाद main verb की fourth form को लिखें।
- इसके बाद other words को लिखा जाता है।

Interrogative Sentences
Past Continuous Tense Interrogative Sentences को English में Translate करने के नियम –
- सबसे पहले Helping Verb (Was या Were ) Subject के अनुसार लिखें।
- Was/Were के बाद subject को लिखें।
- subject के बाद main verb की forth form को लिखें।

Past Continuous Tense Interrogative Sentences में "wh word" जुड़ा हुआ होता है तब उसे अंग्रेजी में अनुवाद करने के नियम–

Use of Past Continuous Tense In Hindi
1. कोई कार्य Past में कुछ समय तक चलने के बाद Past में किसी समय समाप्त हो जाता है इस तरह के वाक्यों का अनुवाद के लिए Past Continuous Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
जैसे–
वह उस समय जोर जोर से हंस रहा था।
He was laughing laudly at that time.
राम एक पत्र लिख रहा था।
Ram was writing a letter.
मैं तुम्हारे लिए खाना बना रही थी।
I was cooking for you.
राम और सीता रोटी खा रहे थे।
Ram and Sita were eating bread.
2. दो कार्य Past में एक साथ हो रही है तो वैसे कार्यों के अभिव्यक्ति के लिए इस टेंस का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
जैसे–
जब मैं फुटबॉल खेल रहा था, तब मेरी बहन किताब पढ़ रही थी।
While I was playing football, my sister was reading a book.
जब मैं उसके घर जा रहा था, तब वह पढ़ रही थी।
While I was going to her house, she was studying.
जब मैं सो रहा था, तब वह गाना सुन रही थी।
While I was sleeping, she was listening to the song.
जब राम उपन्यास लिख रहा था, तब हमलोग क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे।
While Ram was writing a novel, we were playing cricket.
3. जब कोई कार्य जारी था और उसी समय कोई घटना घटित होता है तो इस तरह के वाक्यों को अंग्रेजी में अनुवाद करते वक्त दो टेंस का प्रयोग किया जाता है। पहला Past Continuous Tense और दूसरा Past Indefinite Tense का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
जो घटना More Past में होता है उसका अनुवाद Past Continuous Tense में किया जाता है और दूसरी घटना को Past Indefinite Tense में किया जाता है।
जैसे–
मेरा भाई खेल रहा था जब मैं घर पहुंचा।
My brother was playing when I reached home.
मैं नहा रहा था जब राम मेरे घर आया।
I was taking bath when Ram came to my house.
